ABOUT THE WALKER SCOTTISH RITE CLINIC
The Walker Scottish Rite Clinic, a program of Maryville University, is committed to teaching two-through six-year-old children with speech and language disorders the communication skills necessary to succeed in school and throughout their lives. This goal is achieved through early identification and long-term therapy and by training parents to use techniques with their children at home.
The Clinic is a charitable organization providing services to children through eight site partnerships in the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and the communities of Arnold, Troy and Union, Missouri. The Walker Clinic provides speech and language screenings; evaluations; audiological services; speech and language therapy; parent education classes; and community referrals. All services are free.
The Clinic’s rapid and necessary adoption of telepractice due to COVID-19 in 2020 was both a tremendous challenge and an unexpected opportunity. Pivoting to telepractice has required additional investments in new technologies while at the same time opened new doors to extend our reach. Children enrolled in therapy continue to receive free services through one of the Clinic’s programs, either in-person or now through telepractice.
Services are funded by corporate and foundation grants, special fundraising events, and individual donations. The Clinic receives no federal funding, and families are never charged for services, regardless of financial status or insurance coverage. The Main Clinic is located in the Myrtle E. & Earl E. Walker Hall, on Maryville University campus at 650 Maryville University Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141. The Walker Scottish Rite Clinic has been serving Greater St. Louis area preschool age children since 1988. To learn more about the clinic’s history, click here.
